Aila K. (Kammonen) Johnson

LEICESTER: Aila K. (Kammonen) Johnson, 83, of Whittemore Street died Friday, March 25 in St. Vincent Hospital after an illness.
She leaves her husband Richard J. Johnson and a son Michael R. Johnson of Leicester.
Aila was born in Mikkeli, Finland, daughter of Hiskias Ripatti and Aura Kammonen. She worked at a newspaper in her hometown for 19 years. After moving to the US, Aila and her husband lived at and operated the Johnson Family Dairy Farm in Leicester. She enjoyed the simple things in life, especially sitting on her front porch, viewing wildlife, and enjoying walks on her farm. Her and her husband enjoyed taking car rides on the back country roads and long distance day trips with close friends and family.
She enjoyed traveling back to Finland when she could, and wrote many letters and cards back and forth to friends and family in her later years.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, March 30th at 11:00 AM in Pine Grove Cemetery, Leicester. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation to a charity of your choice. The MORIN FUNERAL HOME, 1131 Main Street, Leicester is directing funeral arrangements.
