SPENCER: Andrew F. Cassavant Jr.,87, of Spencer, died Friday, September 4th, at home surrounded by his family. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Rose D. (Boucher) Cassavant; his son, Kenneth Cassavant Sr. and his wife, Jeanne, of Big Sandy, Tennessee; three daughters, Audrey Bell and her husband, Brian, of Spencer, Karen Anderson and her husband, Edward, of Brookfield, and Melissa Desroches and her husband, Philip, of Sturbridge; Rebecca Leao, whom he considered a fourth daughter; and his sister, Leona Lacroix of Spencer. He leaves nine grandchildren: Kenneth Cassavant Jr. of Big Sandy, Tennessee; Andrew Cassavant and his wife, Sarah, of Whately; Brent Cassavant and his wife, Jessica, of Oakham; Douglas Bell and his wife, Nicole, of Rochdale; Derek Bell of Spencer; Benjamin and Lauren Anderson of Brookfield; Kaylee Desroches and her partner, Sean Sweeney, of Shrewsbury; and Amy Desroches of Sturbridge. He also leaves four great-grandchildren, Colton and Jaxson Cassavant, Greyson Bell, and Gabby Dillon, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son, Andrew; his brothers, Edmond, John, Ernest, and Stephen; and his sister, Elaine Potvin. Born in Spencer to Andrew F. Cassavant Sr. and Florence (McDonald) Cassavant, he grew up on a farm and remained a lifelong resident of the town. Andrew worked at Pioneer Foundry in Gilbertville, Proctor’s Farm in Spencer, Brookfield Wire in Brookfield, Grounds Unlimited in North Brookfield, and Bercume Equipment in Spencer. After retiring, he stayed active by helping close friends with yard work and snow removal. He treasured time with family and friends and enjoyed camping, spending many years as a seasonal camper in Connecticut and Massachusetts, where he formed lifelong friendships. Special thank you to Ascend Health - Hospice (our rock Wendy Kelley and her team). Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, September 8th, from 5 to 7 p.m. in the J. HENRI MORIN & SON FUNERAL HOME, 23 Maple Terr., Spencer. A funeral service will take place on Wednesday, September 9th, at 11 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will be at a later date in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton, at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Mary, Queen of the Rosary Food Pantry, 46 Maple Street, Spencer, MA 01562
