Bernard J. "Benny" Casavant

SPENCER: Bernard J. “Benny” Casavant, 91, of Spencer, died Tuesday, September 22nd, at Knollwood Nursing Center in Worcester.

Born in Spencer, he was the son of the late Doria and Eveline (Messier) Cassavant and later graduated from Worcester Boys Trade School. He was the husband of the late Beatrice J. (Kelly) Casavant, who died in 1997.

Benny leaves his sons, Paul R. Casavant of Spencer, David J. Casavant and his wife, Tammy, of Brookfield, and John R. Casavant of North Brookfield; his brother, John Cassavant and his wife, Lore, of Port St. Lucie, FL; eight grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. He was predeceased by his son, James B. Casavant, and his sister, Madeleine Cassavant.

Benny worked as a building manager for International Industries in Shrewsbury before retiring in 2020.

He was a member of Mary, Queen of the Rosary Parish, where he served as an usher and greeter for many years. He was also a longtime member of Friends of Bill.

The Funeral will be held Friday, September 25th from the J. HENRI MORN & SON FUNERAL HOME, 23 Maple Terr., Spencer, with a Mass at 10 A.M. in Our Lady of the Rosary Church, 7 Church St., Spencer. Burial will follow at Mary, Queen of the Rosary Cemetery, Spencer. Calling hours are Thursday from 4-7 p.m. in the funeral home.
