LEICESTER: Briant F.R. Cormier, Sr., 70, of Leicester, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, Feb. 29th. at St. Vincent Hospital, Worcester surrounded by his family. He leaves his son; Briant F.R. Cormier II and his wife Laurie of Grafton; his daughter Darcey C.Y. Cormier of Leicester; his longtime partner Mary Anne Gilson with whom he lived and loved; his sister Christine M. Engvall and her husband Ronald of Leicester; his grandsons Edward, Jackson and Harrison; and several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his brothers Guy R. Cormier in 2008 and Robert J. Cormier in 2003.
He was born in Worcester, the son of Francis J. and Anita M. (Lambert) Cormier. He graduated from Holy Name High School in Worcester, attended Wentworth Institute, and earned a BS in Engineering from what is now today Nichols College.
Briant, a Quality Assurance Engineer, worked for Wyman Gordon Co. at both the Grafton and Worcester plants for more than 30 years before retiring in 2016. He enjoyed time with his family; working on his home; and visiting the Cape, the White Mountains, and the Abbey in Spencer.
Calling hours will be held on Monday, March 4th. from 3 to 5 p.m. in the MORIN FUNERAL HOME, 1131 Main St., Leicester. A prayer service will conclude the calling hours at 5 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Joseph's Abbey, 167 N.Spencer Rd., Spencer MA 01562.
