Carol Bender

WORCESTER / BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA: Carol (Lusignan) Shilinsky - Bender,82, of Barry Rd., died peacefully on Thursday, July 13th in Rose Monahan Hospice Home, Worcester. She was surrounded by her loving family.

She leaves her husband of 14 years, Norman Bender, her daughters; Lynda J. Ganem and her husband Albert Ganem, Jr. of Worcester and Barbara J. McKeon of Leicester, her brother; William Lusignan of Leicester, 5 grandchildren; Albert III, Sarah, Samuel, Michaela and Jack and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother; Joseph L. Lusignan in 2012.

Carol was a longtime educator in Worcester Public Schools and retired in 2001 as the principal of the A.L.L. School - The Accelerated Learning Laboratory in Worcester.

Carol was born in Worcester, the daughter of Louis H. and Julia (Fahey) Lusignan and graduated from St. Peter's High School. While raising her two daughters she graduated from Worcester State College with a Bachelor's Degree followed by a Master's Degree in Education.

Carol was an active member of the Board of Directors at High Point West and Sherwood Forest, where she spent the winter months. She was a former board member of the Education Assoc. of Worcester and the Worcester Principals Association.

Carol took great pride in her accomplishments as an educator, but took greater pride in her daughters and grandchildren.

Please join her family in celebrating her life on Monday, July 17th from the MORIN FUNERAL HOME, 1131 Main St., Leicester with a Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Pius X Church, 1161 Main St., Leicester. A calling hour will precede the services on Monday from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Leicester. Memorial donations may be made to Rose Monahan Hospice Home, 10 Judith Rd., Worcester, Ma. 01606 who took wonderful care of during her final days.
