David Wood

LEICESTER: David R. Wood, 53, of 30 Pleasant Street died suddenly Tuesday, April 6 in his home after being stricken ill.

He leaves his devoted parents Barbara A. (McPhillips) and Donald F. Wood of Leicester. Four brothers Steven F. Wood of Worcester, Kevin J. Wood, Alan R. Wood and his wife Lynn and Brian M. Wood all of Cherry Valley, two sisters Donna J. Harrington and her husband Mark of Leicester and Deborah A. McCue and her husband Andrew of Cherry Valley, his beloved girlfriend Carrie B. Desrosiers of Worcester, 9 nieces and 3 nephews who all had a unique relationship with "Uncle David".

David was born in Worcester. He was a lifelong resident of the Cherry Valley section of Leicester. He graduated from Leicester High School in 1975. A member of the Leicester High Football Team, he was named MVP of the 1974 Thanksgiving Day Football Game. After graduation he worked several jobs including, U.P.S., St. Alaire Landscaping, Venditti Construction and most recently at the Castle Restaurant. He was a member of St. Joseph's Parish, The Sons of the American Legion, Post 443 of Cherry Valley and the Dog House Club.

The Funeral will be held Friday, April 9 from MORIN-MORRISON FUNERAL HOME, 1131 Main Street, Leicester with a Mass at 10:00 AM in St. Pius X Church, 1153 Main St., Leicester. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery, Worcester. Calling hours are from 4:00-7:00 PM Thursday. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Leicester Food Pantry at St. Joseph's Church, 759 Main Street, Leicester, MA 01524.
