In Loving Memory of Dorothy M. (McDonough) Stevens
1942 - 2025
LEICESTER/DANVERS: With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Dorothy M. (McDonough) Stevens, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, on Friday October 17, 2025 at the age of 83. She passed peacefully transitioning from this life to the next, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and cherished memories.
Born on April 4, 1942 in Lynn, Massachusetts, Dorothy was the daughter of Edward and Marie (Beaudet) McDonough. She grew up with a passion for dancing in her younger days and then focused her attention on her children. She enjoyed crocheting and caring for her dogs and her cats. She was the wife of Roger Stevens. Dorothy was known for her dedication to her family, her kindness, her perseverance and adorable giggle. She touched the lives of everyone she met.
Dorothy dedicated her life to her family, always putting their needs above her own. She was a devoted mother to her four children and will be deeply missed by Donnamae Harkness and her husband Sean of Danville, NH, Wayne Stevens of Whitingham, VT, Mathew Stevens and his wife Cindy of Peabody, MA, and Mark Stevens and his wife Christina of Danville, NH, who will forever cherish her wisdom, humor, and unconditional love. She was the grandmother of 11 grandchildren George, Matthew, Tiana, Jake, Ryan, Sarah, Amanda, Tayla, Tabitha, Christopher and Cameron along with 10 great-grandchildren Taryn, Parker, Julian, Ella Jean, Samson, Josias, Tessa, Matthew, Javian and Isaiah as well as several nieces and nephews. Dorothy taught us the importance of kindness, the strength of perseverance, and the beauty of a life lived with purpose. Her laughter, wisdom, and unwavering support will forever echo in our hearts.
She is reunited in heaven with both her parents as well as her 9 siblings Marie Moulaison, Thomas McDonough, Catherine Shaughnessy, Rose Curcio, Edward McDonough, Richard McDonough, Lorraine McCoy, Robert McDonough and Frances Brady.
A celebration of Dorothy's life will be held on Saturday, November 22, 2025 from 12 noon - 1:30pm at East Coast International Church, 61 Munroe Street, Lynn, MA. Burial will follow at 2pm in St. Mary Cemetery, 190 Lynnfield Street, Lynn, MA. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to Alzheimer's Foundation of America ( https://alzfdn.org ) in her honor.
Her love, laughter, and legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. Though our hearts ache with her absence, we find comfort in knowing she is at peace, her love continuing to guide us. Rest gently, dearest Dorothy. You will be forever missed and eternally loved.
