NO.BROOKFIELD: Drew Patrick Leonard, 28, of North Brookfield, died Friday, June 10th with his parents by his side.

He leaves his parents Dennis P. and Sheila E. (Perkins) Leonard, Jr., with whom he lived; his sisters, Lt. Commander Nicole K. Leonard of San Diego, CA and Melissa E. Leonard of San Diego, CA; his maternal grandparents Linda M. Bauman and her husband, Steve, of Port Charlotte, FL, and maternal grandfather Robert A. Perkins of North Brookfield, as well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins. He is predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Dennis P. and June A. (Martone) Leonard.

Drew was born in Worcester and graduated from David Prouty High School, Spencer, Class of 2011. He was a member of the David Prouty golf team. He later graduated from Quinsigamond Community College, Worcester, in 2015.

Drew worked in land surveying, renovated houses to sell or rent, rental property maintenance, and as an intern at OFS in Sturbridge during his college years. Ultimately, his compassion and natural affinity for animals inspired him to first volunteer at Second Chance Animal Shelter in East Brookfield and then start his own pet sitting and dog walking business. He was looking forward to starting on a path to become a certified dog trainer.

Drew loved snorkeling, gaming, playing Texas Hold'em, and watching documentaries. He was known for his quick wit and great sense of humor, but most importantly, he was known for his kindness and empathy towards others. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends, including his furry friends.

His funeral will be held on Friday, June 17 from the J.HENRI MORIN & SON FUNERAL HOME, 23 Maple Terr., Spencer followed by a funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of the Rosary Church, 7 Church St., Spencer. Burial will follow in St. Marys Cemetery, Holden. Calling hours are Thursday from 4 to 7p.m. in the funeral home.
