LEICESTER: Edward (Eddie) M. Friel, 62, of the Rochdale section of Leicester, died Sunday, Jan. 21st in Holden Rehabilitation and Nursing Center after a long battle with cancer.

He leaves his son; Justin E. Friel of Rochdale with whom he lived, his former fiancée and mother of his children; Dawn Reeks of Spencer, his sisters Kathleen Abasciano and her sons Michael and Matthew, Cheryl Bullard and her daughters Kim and Jody, his nieces Lisa, Tanya and nephew John as well as many other nieces, nephews and cousins. He is predeceased by his daughter; Chelsea M. Friel in 2018, a sister; Rhonda Sanchez and his stepfather; Ernest Dionne.  We'd like to express special thanks to his niece Lisa and cousins Eileen and Maureen, for all their love and support during these very difficult times.

Eddie studied at Worcester Institute of Technology, Quinsigamond Community College and Nichols College.  He was a manufacturing engineer for Raytheon prior to retirement.

He was born in Worcester, the son of Edward A. Friel and Barbara (Nilsson) Dionne. He was a longtime New England Patriots Fan, enjoyed gardening and yardwork, loved his dog "Chloe", but his favorite thing was home cooked meals with his son Justin.

Calling hours are from 10 to 11a.m. with a funeral service at 11 a.m. on Friday, Jan 26th in the MORIN FUNERAL HOME, 1131 Main St., Leicester.  Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Leicester.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to a charity of choice.
