LEICESTER: Eleanor L. (Bouchard) Hallen, 91, of Rochdale MA passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 12, 2025, at home with her loved ones by her side. Her husband of 59 years, John E. Hallen, Sr. died in 2012. She leaves her five sons, David and his wife Betsy of Antrim, NH, Brian and his wife Cheryl of Leicester, Peter and his wife Lisa of Waterville, ME and Paul and John of Rochdale; two daughters Mary Ann Mitti of Worcester and Rosemary Hallen of Rochdale; 24 grand and great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She also leaves her sister Nancy Fresolo of Missouri, who just turned 96 years old. She was predeceased by her brother Lawrence, his wife Kitty; her sister Edna, and her husband Andrew Spinney, sisters-in-law M. Eileen Russell, Barbara Faucher and brother-in-law Leo Hallen.
Eleanor was born in Rochdale, the daughter of Harold and Eva (Forgit) Bouchard and graduated from St. Peter's High School in 1952. She attended the School of Fashion Design in Boston and was a very gifted seamstress making many wedding gowns (including her own), bridesmaid dresses, prom gowns, doll clothes and countless alterations for many years. She also knitted baby hats and donated them to area hospitals for newborn babies. She enjoyed doing puzzles, playing cards and going to the Casino. Eleanor was a member of St. Aloysius-St. Jude Chapel and its Ladies Guild. The family would like to thank the ladies from Visiting Angels for their excellent care, compassion and friendship, as well as the nursing staff from Brookhaven Hospice for their exceptional care and expertise in providing here with comfort measures.
The funeral will be held on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, from the MORIN FUNERAL HOME, 1131 Main Street, Leicester, with a Mass at 11:00 a.m. in St. Aloysius-St. Jude Chapel, 491 Pleasant Street, Leicester. Burial will follow at Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton. Calling hours are from 9-10:30am in the funeral home prior to the Mass. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Seven Hills Adult Day Health, 81 Hope Ave., Worcester, MA 01603.
