LEICESTER: Elwood K. Burtt, 74, died suddenly, Wednesday, Oct. 1st. after being stricken ill at his home in Leicester.He leaves his wife of 48 years, Barbara A. (Flury) Burtt, his sons; Keith Burtt and his wife Annmarie of Leicester and Benjamin Burtt and his wife Emily Gifford of Southboro, his grandchildren; Autumn Powers of Leicester, Eliot & Edira Burtt of Southboro, his sisters; Gloria Lamonda and her husband James of Leicester, Connie Burtt of Spencer, Kay Goodale and her husband Glenn of Petersham and Brenda Lekstrom of Rochdale and her partner Brian Witkowski of N. Grosvenordale, CT.; his father-in-law Paul Flury Sr. of Oakham; his beloved in-laws and many nieces & nephews.
Elwood was a licensed contractor and along with his son Keith, owned and operated Burtt Builders in Leicester for many years.
An avid outdoorsman, he was a member of the Leicester Rod & Gun Club and Singletary Rod & Gun Club in Sutton. Elwood loved spending time with his family and friends (when he wasn't in the woods).
Born in Worcester, he was the son of Keith and Phyllis (Carmichael) Burtt and a graduate of Leicester High School, Class of 1970.
His funeral will be held on Wednesday, Oct.8th at 11 a.m. in the MORIN FUNERAL HOME, 1131 Main St., Leicester. A calling period from 9:30 to 11 a.m. will precede the service on Wednesday. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Leicester Rod and Gun Club to support youth programming and annual scholarships.
