LEICESTER: Francis Marley, 83, of 1075 Main St., died suddenly, Thursday, Nov. 2nd. in his home. He leaves his wife of 63 years, Veda M.A. (Hutchings) Marley, his daughter; Karen L. (Marley) Travers of Leicester, his son-in-law; John J. Murray of Plymouth, his brother; William Marley of Winterhaven, FL., three grandchildren; Aimee L. Brigham and her husband Michael of Leicester, Matthew F. Travers and his fiancée Katie of Cherry Valley and Andrew J. Travers and Lindsey of Nashua, NH., 7 great-grandchildren; Ronald "RJ", David, Mason, Heidi, Daniel, Brooklyn and Bentley, several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his son; Michael S. Marley in 2017 and his son-in-law Ronald F. Travers in 2010. Francis was born in Worcester, the son of John and Helen (O'Connell) Marley, graduated from Leicester High School, and later traveled to Africa while serving in the US Army. Francis was a Police Officer for 32 years with the Worcester Police Dept. retiring as a Lieutenant in Internal Affairs on December 31, 1996. He enjoyed his retirement gift of a tornado hunting trip with his wife, spotting 13 tornadoes including an F5! Francis was an avid hunter, and fisherman and enjoyed the outdoors. He loved spending time with his family, friends, and pets. He was looking forward to attending Matt and Katie's upcoming wedding!
At his request, no services are planned at this time. A celebration of life will be held in April 2024, around his birthday, to gather together and celebrate his life! The MORIN FUNERAL HOME, 1131 Main St., Leicester is directing arrangements for the family.
