Gary R. Whitney

LEICESTER: Gary R. Whitney,72, of the Cherry Valley section of Leicester, died suddenly, Sunday, Sept. 8th at his home.He leaves his wife of 46 years, Phyllis A. (Duquette) Whitney, his sons; Jason R. Whitney and his wife Jessica of Atlantic City, NJ and Brian P. Whitney of Cherry Valley, his brother; Russell D. Whitney and his wife Joan of Leicester and his sister; Maureen A. Whitney of Cherry Valley, several nieces and nephews and his beloved cats, Oliver & Calie.
He was born in Worcester, the son of Robert D. and Barbara M. (Wood) Whitney and later graduated from Leicester High School in 1970 and Worcester Industrial Technical Institute in Worcester.
Gary worked in the shipping & receiving dept. of Davis Publications in Worcester for over 20 years, prior to his retirement in 2009. He was a longtime member and past Grand Knight of the Leicester Knights of Columbus Council 4528 and St. Joseph/St. Pius X Parish. He was an avid bowler and loved feeding the birds in his backyard.
Private graveside services in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Leicester will be held at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. The MORIN FUNERAL HOME, 1131 Main St., Leicester is assisting the family with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Second Chance Animal Services, P.O.
