LEICESTER: George H. Parkin, Sr., 79, of 1075 Main St., died Sunday, April 14th in UMASS Memorial Hospital, Worcester.
He leaves the "love of his life" and fiancé for the past 26 years, Carolyn M. Wood with whom he lived, his son; George H. Parkin, Jr. and his wife Angela of Spencer, his daughters; Patricia Joyce and her husband Francis of Leicester, Kristine St. Peter and her husband James of Spencer, Carol Perron and her husband Gerald of Spencer and Barbara Parkin of Spencer, his sisters; Pauline Veroneau, Winifred Johnson, Jane Desrosiers, Dorothy Grenon, Susan Brewsaugh, Kate Ryan, Barbara Howe, and Elaine Alvarado. 5 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by brothers; Ernest Allen and Mark Franklin Parkin, and a sister; Kathleen Early.
George was a gas station manager for CK Smith Oil Co. prior to his retirement. He previously was a longtime tractor trailer driver for several area transportation companies. Born in Worcester, he was the son of Ernest J. Parkin and Pauline (Stone) Early. Stepfather George F. Early.
The family wishes to thank the compassionate care given George by his doctors, nurses and staff at Memorial Hospital.
A Memorial Mass will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society 30 Speen St., Suite 250, Framingham, MA 01701. The MORIN FUNERAL HOME, 1131 Main St. Leicester is assisting the family with arrangements.
