SPENCER: Gerald G. Berg, 83, of Ash Street, passed away with loved ones at his side on Saturday, Oct. 21st at The Oasis at Dodge Park. Gerry was born in Springfield, the son of George and Dorothy (Lapham) Berg, graduated from Worcester Vocational Technical School and later served his country with the US Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. He owned and operated Berg Tool & Machine Co. in East Brookfield for
more than 20 years; retiring in 1986, at the young age of 47. Gerry was a member of the Greenville Baptist Church serving on its Building Committee, Finance Committee, Cemetery Committee and was on the Board of Trustees. He was a member of the
North Brookfield Sportsman Club and was an avid golfer and longtime member of Heritage Country Club. Gerry was an aviation enthusiast and obtained his private pilot's license. He loved to travel and was fortunate to see many places in the US, Europe,
and South America. He also enjoyed many trips to Stockholm, Maine with his family members. Gerry cherished the time he spent with family and friends. He especially enjoyed his time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Gerry was married for 40 years to the love of his life, Judith A. (Lamprey) Berg who passed in August 2002. He went on to find companionship in his later years, and married his second wife, Sally (Streeter) Johnson. Gerry is reunited with loved ones who have gone before him. He joins in eternal rest
with his father George, his mother Dorothy, Judy, Sally, and his brother Dennis. Gerry is survived by his sons; Thomas G. Berg and his wife Elizabeth of Shrewsbury, Randy M. Berg and his partner Julie Tondera of Spencer, three brothers; Earl Colbert
and his partner Cheryl Cafarelli, Richard Berg and his wife Tricia, and Gary Colbert, five grandchildren; Rebecca Berg, Victoria Otano and her husband Ray, Dylan Abbott and his wife Christina, Nicholas Berg and Mackenzie Berg, great grandchildren; Theo, Ally,
Willa, Ainsley and Josie, and many nieces and nephews. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation and gratitude to the
caregivers at The Oasis at Dodge Park for their exceptional care and compassion.
Visiting hours at the J. HENRI MORIN & SON FUNERAL HOME, 23 Maple Terrace, Spencer will be Wednesday from 4 to 7p.m. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Oct. 26th at 10 a.m. in Greenville Baptist Church, 684 Pleasant St., Rochdale with burial to follow in Greenville Baptist Cemetery with Military Honors.
