SPENCER: Helen M. (Fairbrother) Cardin, 98, of Spencer and Oakham, died peacefully on Thursday, Oct. 19th in Tatnuck Park Senior Living, Worcester. She was the wife of George A. Cardin, Jr. who died in 1998. She leaves her daughters; Claudia Cardin-Kleffner and her husband Larry of Overland Park, KS and Crystal Lucchesi and her husband Vincent of Oakham, her son; George A. Cardin, III of Spencer, 6 grandchildren; Nicole Cardin, Cara Eldredge, Meggan Schempp, Sarah Lucchesi, Katie McNeil, and Emily Lucchesi, and 7 Great grandchildren. She is predeceased by her brother Arthur Fairbrother and sister Ruth Walton. She was born in Attleboro, the daughter of William and Lydia (LeBritton) Fairbrother but lived most of her life in Spencer.
Helen loved to travel, play cribbage with her best friend Margie, read, knit, and do crossword puzzles. She also volunteered for many years with Umass Hospice, Meals on Wheels, Spencer Council on Aging and Mary Queen of the Rosary Food Pantry.
Helen's family would like to thank the entire staff of Tatnuck Park at Worcester Assisted Living for their wonderful care and Brookhaven Hospice for their care and support.
Private graveside services in Mary, Queen of the Rosary Cemetery will take place at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to: Camp Putnam, 141 Rutherford Rd., New Braintree MA 01531.
The J.HENRI MORIN & SON FUNERAL HOME, 23 Maple Terr., Spencer is assisting the family with arrangements.
