Henry W. Merchant, Iii

BROOKFIELD: Henry W. Merchant, III, 81, of Brookfield, died Monday, Sept. 16th in Harrington Memorial Hospital, Southbridge.He leaves his wife of 60 years, Mary M. (Benoit) Merchant, his son; Richard H. Merchant and his wife Marie of Southbridge, his brother; Stephen Merchant and his wife Janet of Spencer, his grandchildren; Melissa, Elizabeth, James and Zachary and 7 great grandchildren.
Henry was born in Worcester, the son of Henry W. and Frances (Eldridge) Merchant, Jr. He was an inspector of quality control for Lutco Bearings in Worcester for several years, retiring in 2005. Along with his wife, they enjoyed wintering in Acadia, Fl. for 13 years where he was an avid horseshoe player in several area leagues and tournaments. He resided in Craig's RV Park where he did painting for customers. He was a classic and antique car enthusiast.
A funeral service for Henry will be held Friday, Sept. 20th. at 10 a.m. in the J.HENRI MORIN & SON FUNERAL HOME, 23 Maple Terr., Spencer. A calling hour will precede the services from 9 to 10a.m. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery, Worcester. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of choice.
