James F. Connery Sr.

LEICESTER: James F. Connery, Sr., 92, of Pleasant Street, died Saturday, March 12 at Overlook Masonic Home in Charlton.

He leaves his wife of 72 years, Pete (Smith) Connery, his son James F. Connery, Jr. and his wife Maureen, his daughter Kathleen Connery Fitzgibbons and her husband Paul all of Leicester, five grandchildren Julianne M. McCarthy and her husband Patrick of Northboro, Andrew P. Fitzgibbons and his wife Nancy of Minneapolis, MN, James F. Connery, III and his wife Neile of Cherry Valley, Bethany F. Furlong and her husband Scot of Wayland, and Jennifer R. Callaghan and her husband Brian of Northboro, nine great grandchildren Abigail, Molly, Isabella, Rachel, Aidan, Sadie Grace, Amelia, Luke, and Meghan, as well as several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by a brother Henry Connery and a sister Ruth Connery.

Born in Clinton, he was the son of Henry J. and Mary (Crowley) Connery. He served his country in the US Army as a surgical technician with the 104th General Hospital in England during WWII. After returning from the war Mr. Connery was a self employed carpenter, building many of the homes in Dawn Acres. In later years, Jim was maintenance supervisor at the Leicester Housing Authority retiring in 1991. He served as Building Inspector for the Town of Leicester for 15 years. He was a corporator at the former Leicester Savings Bank. Additionally, Jim was a member of the Rochdale VFW Post 7556. He was a devout member of St. Aloysius-St. Jude Parish.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, March, 16 at 10a.m. in St. Aloysius-St. Jude Church, 489 Pleasant Street, Leicester, MA. Calling hours are private and friends are asked to go directly to the church. Burial with Military Honors will follow his Service in Eastwood Cemetery, Lancaster, MA.
