Jean M. Wheeler

SPENCER: Jean M. (Guibord) Wheeler,88, of Spencer, died Tuesday, Nov. 26th. at her home surrounded by her caretakers Brian, Scott, Beth and April. Her husband of 65 years, Kenneth R. Wheeler died in 2016.  She leaves her sons; Bruce W. Wheeler and his wife Jennifer of Topeka, KS, Brian K. Wheeler of Port Orange, FL., and Scott T. Wheeler and his wife April of Spencer, 4 grandchildren; Jonathan, Joshua, Allison and Cheryl, step grandchildren; Jeffrey, Marcus,Victoria and Keisha, her two sisters; Diane Tucker and her husband Charles of Washington, ME, as well as Suzanne Izzard and her husband William of Waldoboro, ME, her brother; Ronald Guibord of Scarborough, ME., her former daughter in law Beth Wheeler of Spencer. As well as many nephews and nieces.

Jean in her early years was an accomplished equestrian and competed in many towns near her home, as well as a swim instructor where she met Ken, the love of her life. Jean, a lifelong resident of Spencer, worked as a schoolteacher for the Spencer/E.Brookfield School System for 22 years, retiring in 1996. Upon retiring, Jean continued her joy of learning through her many crafts and hobbies as well as traveling. Jean and Ken travelled to many destinations, including the Panama Canal crossing, as well as their favorite destination, Bermuda, where they went multiple times. She will always be remembered as a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother and friend to all who knew her and gathered around her table at holiday celebrations and meals that she enjoyed preparing and eating, as well as the stories shared too.

Jean was born in Worcester, the oldest daughter of Henry and Pauline (St. Germain) Guibord and later graduated from David Prouty High School in 1954, Worcester State University in1958 and where she returned years later and earned her Master's Degree in 1988. She was a member of Mary Queen of the Rosary Parish. She leaves her legacy of cooking, crafts, and the joys of storytelling to her family and friends. To know Jean was to love her, as she is happily reunited with Ken on this 65th anniversary day.

A Memorial Mass and Celebration of her Life will be held on Tuesday, July 15th, 2025, at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of the Rosary Church, 7 Church St., Spencer. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Spencer. Please omit flowers. Memorial donations may be made to V.N.A. Care, 100 Trade Center Dr., Suite G500, Woburn, MA 01801.
