EAST BROOKFIELD: Joan G. (Leger) Bedard,99, of E. Brookfield, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 14th in Care One Millbury. She was the wife of Raymond C. "Bill" Bedard who died in 2004. She leaves her beloved family including son; Paul Bedard and his wife Joanne of Westboro, and her daughter; Anne Towle and her husband Robert of Spencer, her granddaughters; Rebecca Pellegrino and her husband Mark of Barre, Amanda Lambert and her husband Daniel of E. Brookfield, Sarah Faucher and her husband Jamie of Barre, her grandsons; Gregory Bedard and his wife Amy of Spencer and Bryan Bedard of Worcester, 13 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by sisters; Pauline Dilling and Therese Archambault.
A lifelong resident of East Brookfield, she was the daughter of John and Louise (Hebert) Leger. At the time of her death, she was oldest resident and recipient of the town's Gold Cane.
Joan owned and taught at Happy Day School in E.Brookfield for 24 years. She was a parishioner and former Parish Council member of St. John the Baptist Church. She was very active in several community activities including the Spencer Garden Club and East Brookfield Senior Center.
Memorial calling hours for Joan will be held on Wednesday, March 13th. from 4 to 6 p.m. in the J.HENRI MORIN & SON FUNERAL HOME, 23 Maple Terr., Spencer. A Memorial Mass will be held the following day, Thursday, March 14th. at 11 a.m. in St. John the Baptist Church, No. Brookfield Rd., E. Brookfield, MA. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the East Brookfield Senior Center, 126 Pleasant St., E. Brookfield, MA 01515.
