Joanne Delaney

Joanne Delaney, 49, of 115 Pleasant Street died Thursday, Sept. 8 in UMass Memorial Medical Center after an illness.

She leaves two sons Devin D. and Austin Carpenter of Shrewsbury, four brothers Michael Delaney and his wife Candace of Dalton, Patrick Delaney and his wife Carol, Brian Delaney and his wife Sheila and Brendan Delaney and his wife Jennifer all of Worcester, three sisters Maureen A. O'Connor and her husband Timothy and Marybeth Delaney and her husband John Dyson of Worcester and Kathleen L. Delaney of Taunton and many nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by a brother Terrance Delaney.

She was born in Worcester, daughter of Edward P. and Shirley M. (Horton) Delaney. She graduated from South High School. She previously worked as a secretary for the City of Worcester School Department and for Forward Financial Co. in Worcester. Joanne was a fun loving person with a big heart and cherished times spent with her family.

A Memorial Mass will be held Thursday, Sept. 15 at 10a.m.in St. Peter's Church, 931 Main Street, Worcester. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery, Worcester. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Salvation Army, 72 Cambridge Street, Worcester, MA 01603. MORRISON-MORIN FUNERAL HOME, 1131 Main Street, Leicester is directing arrangements.
