BROOKFIELD: Joseph W. Gadbois, 87, of Brookfield, died Saturday, August 22, at home.
Born in Worcester on July 23, 1939, he was the son of the late Alfred J. Gadbois and Louise F. (Bernard) Gadbois. He was the husband of the late Eleanor M. (Cantwell) Gadbois, who died in 2022.
Joseph worked as a fine grit mixer for Norton Company for 28 years before retiring in 1995. He honorably served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and continued his military service for many years with the National Guard.
He was a member of the West Brookfield American Legion Post 244 and was a former president of Wagon Wheel Park. Joseph enjoyed woodworking, genealogy, and writing short stories.
Joseph leaves his daughters, Susan Welch of Leicester, and Debra Carey and her husband, Ronald Carey Jr., of Brookfield, with whom he lived; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by four daughters, Karen M. Gadbois, Anita M. Gadbois, Theresa Zak, and Lorie Gadbois; his brothers, Robert J. Gadbois and Paul E. Gadbois, both of Spencer; and his sister, Rita Holmes of Leicester.
A graveside service with Military Honors will be held on Monday, August 31st, at Noon in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. There are no calling hours.
