LEICESTER: Joseph A. McConville, 84, of the Rochdale section of Leicester, died Sunday, Jan. 21st. in his home. He leaves his wife of 62 years, Alice M. (Oliva) McConville, his sons; James M. McConville of Woburn and David A. McConville and his fiancé Rebecca Cote of Nashua, NH., his daughter; Elizabeth A. Poussier and her husband Jean-Marc of Easton, his brother; Francis McConville and his wife Evelyn of Worcester, his sister; Kathleen Dube of Holden, grandchildren; Ashley Cheslock and her husband Shane of Boston and James McConville and his wife Jennifer of Medford, great grandchildren; Myles and Maeve McConville, and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by a brother; Michael McConville and his brother in law; Russell Dube Jr.
Joe was born in Worcester, the son of Joseph and Florence (Dandeneault) McConville. He graduated from St. Peter's High in Worcester '57. He served in the US Air Force from '57 to '61. Later he earned a BS in Business Management from Clark University '72.
Joe was a member of St. Joseph/St. Pius X Parish, the Greendale Men's Club, and the Cherry Valley American Legion Post 443. An avid golfer, he also was a longtime member and commissioner of the "Growlers Golf League" at Hillcrest Country Club in Leicester.
Joe was a 2nd Vice President in the Sales Technology Program for the Paul Revere Insurance Co. in Worcester before retiring in 1997.
His funeral will be held on Thursday, Jan. 25th. from the MORIN FUNERAL HOME, 1131 Main St., Leicester with a Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Pius X Church, 1153 Main St., Leicester. Burial with Military Honors will follow in St. John's Cemetery, Worcester. Calling hours are Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. in the funeral home.
