Josephine M. (Maida) Barrett

AUBURN, MA / ISLIP TERRACE, NY: Josephine M. (Maida) Barrett 80 of 667 Washington St., died peacefully, Friday, May 2 at St. Vincent Hospital in Worcester.

She leaves behind her husband of 61 years, Eugene W. Barrett, her sons Gene Barrett and his wife Karen of Belleville, Ill., and Arthur Barrett and his wife Denise of Brookfield, her daughter Donna Marie Rose and her husband Jeffrey of Selden, NY., 8 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. She is predeceased by a son Gary Barrett in 2008.

Born in New York City, she was the daughter of the late Dominic and Mary (Saccio) Maida and recently moved here in March from Long Island where along with her husband enjoyed a wonderful life.

She worked for many years as a seamstress and as a housekeeper at Southside Hospital in Bay Shore, NY.from where she retired. Her favorite times were spent laughing with her loving family and Long Island girl friends Emma, Carmen, Mary and Sheila. She also leaves behind numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends whom she loved dearly. "Jo" left her mark on this life as a strong and devoted friend, mother and grandmother. The family is eternally grateful for the constant love and support. Mom, Grandma, "Jo" will be missed by all.

Private calling hours will be held at the convenience of the family with a Memorial Mass at a later date on Long Island.
