LEICESTER: Karen A. (Nelson) Richardson,66, of 249 Clark St. in the Rochdale section of Leicester, died peacefully with her family by her side at UMASS Memorial Medical Center after a brief illness.
She leaves her husband of 48 years, Albert "Bud" W. Richardson, Sr., two daughters Christine M. Sielis of Rochdale and Lisa M. Chumsae and her husband Steven of Barre, two sons Albert "Buddy" W. Richardson, Jr. and his wife Pamela of Oxford, and Steven P. Richardson of Worcester, three brothers Edward Nelson of New Paltze, N.Y., Eric Nelson of New Braintree and Karl Nelson and his wife Cheryl of Boylston, two sisters Joan Bostock and her husband Lincoln of Leicester and Martha Hidenfelter and her husband Dennis of Worcester, her sister-in-law Marilyn Racki of Miami, Fl., seven grand children, nieces and nephews,cousins and dear friends.
She was born on Dec. 12, 1942, the daughter of Edward E. and Elizabeth M. (Krause) Nelson. She attended North High and Girl's Trade School in Worcester.
Karen was a customer service representative for Liberty Mutual Insurance Co. in Worcester for 26 years, retiring in 2006. She loved spending time with her family and was an avid nature watcher. She enjoyed traveling to new locales and making new discoveries. She will be sorely missed. She was a member of the Greenville Baptist Church and the Senior Citizen Club of Leicester.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, Dec. 19 at 10a.m. in the Greenville Baptist Church, 682 Pleasant St., Rochdale. Burial will follow in Hope Cemetery, Worcester. Calling hours at the MORIN-MORRISON FUNERAL HOME, 1131 Main St., Leicester are Thursday, Dec. 18 from 4 to 7p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Greenville Baptist Church Memorial Fund, P.O. Box 396, Rochdale, Ma. 01542.
