Obituary

It is with a heavy heart we announce that Kathleen (Lennon) Gemme, 82, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 27, 2026 with her loving children by her side. She is survived by her daughters: Kara Kennedy and her husband Matt of Sturbridge, Christine Gemme of Wells, ME and Michelle Hennigan and her husband Steven of Charlton; her son Richard Gemme, Jr. and his wife Jennifer of Lunenberg; her grandchildren: Quinn Kennedy, Tiernan Kennedy, Riley Gemme, Jack Gemme, Sara Hennigan, Sean Hennigan and Ryan Hennigan; her brothers: Thomas Lennon, Jr. of Cherry Valley, Paul Lennon of Cherry Valley and John Lennon and his wife Joanne of Charlton; her sister Evie Heffernan and her husband James of Auburn; along with several nieces and nephews.  Her sisters Ann Lennon and Carol Whiting predeceased her.

She graduated from St. Peter’s Catholic High School in 1961 before attending Worcester State University to earn her Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education. While she enjoyed a brief teaching career at Leicester Elementary School, her true passion was to stay home and raise her four children. Once her children were grown, she went back to work at the Spencer-East Brookfield District Court in the judge’s lobby as administrator, where she worked for many years until her retirement.

Devoted to her faith, Kathleen was a longtime member of Our Lady of the Rosary where she enjoyed singing along to the hymns. Kathy loved nothing more than spending time with her family. She particularly enjoyed gardening, listening to music, regular visits to the Spencer Public Library, taking walks, baking, and all the family vacations to the lakes, mountains and beaches of Maine and New Hampshire. You could often find her reading or tending to her flower gardens, as she loved the outdoors. Visiting Ireland was a special trip for her, where she was able to explore her heritage.

Though Kathleen is no longer with us, her kind and caring spirit will never be forgotten. Funeral services will be held privately.
