L. David Wentworth

BROOKFIELD/SPENCER: Lyle David Wentworth, 91, passed away on May 1, 2025 at Quaboag Rehabilitation Center in West Brookfield, after a long battle with Parkinson's and dementia. David was a lifelong resident of Spencer, graduating from David Prouty High School. He went to UMass Amherst for his Bachelor's Degree and then obtained his MBA from American International College in Springfield, MA. He worked in engineering for the Heald Machine Company and at American Optical in Southbridge where he was the Plant Manager. He closed out his career at Astrofoam Packaging in Holden in 1997. He was a very active member of the Spencer First Congregational Church, served as Treasurer of the Spencer Rescue Squad, was chairman of the town Finance Committee and was a trustee and corporator of the Spencer Savings Bank. He leaves his children, Wayne Wentworth and his wife Kathleen of North Smithfield RI, Scott Wentworth and his wife Gail of Schenevus, New York, stepchildren Carole Paquette and her husband Norman of Brookfield MA, Forrest Ruddy and his wife Kathleen of Tolland CT, and Susan Mart and her husband Daniel of Modesto CA. He was predeceased by his wife of 41 years, Beverly (Bostrom) Wentworth, his parents Lyle and Barbara (Albro,) Wentworth, a brother Kenneth Wentworth, a son, Dale Wentworth, a stepdaughter, Elaine Hibbard, a stepson John Ruddy, Junior and a great grandson, Torin Nye. His greatest joy was his family, which consists of eight children, twenty grandchildren and thirty great-grandchildren.
David's Memorial Service will be held on Friday, May 9th at 11 a.m. in the J.HENRI MORIN & SON FUNERAL HOME, 23 Maple Terr., Spencer. A calling hour will precede the services from 10 to 11.am. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Spencer. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Spencer Rescue Squad, 6 Bixby Rd., Spencer, MA 01562.
