NORTH BROOKFIELD: Louis A. Lachance, 87, of No.Brookfield, died Friday, September 22 in Saint Vincent Hospital, Worcester after a brief illness with his family by his side. His wife of 49 years, Carol A. (Tobin) Lachance died in 2009.
He leaves two sons; Daniel L. Lachance and his wife Trina of Ware, and Brian J. Lachance of Springfield, his daughter; Sandra A. Pratt and her husband Kevin of E.Brookfield, two grandchildren; Zachary L. Pratt and his wife Lauren of Silver Spring, MD., Daniel M. Lachance and his wife Sarabeth of Edmonds, WA. and a great-granddaughter, Addie Pratt.
Louis was born in Worcester, the son of Joseph A. and Ida (Paul) Lachance and later served his country with the US Air Force during the Korean and Vietnam Wars as an airplane mechanic for more than 20 years. He then was a mechanic for the Worcester Bus Co. prior to his retirement. He was an avid Boston sports fan, faithfully following the Boston Red Sox, the New England Patriots and the Boston Bruins. He could be often found listening to Red Sox games on the radio in his screen house. He loved country music and had a vast record collection of classic country singers. His greatest pride were his grandsons Zachary and Daniel, always encouraging their academics and career goals. He was thrilled to become a great-grandfather with the addition of his great-granddaughter Addie to his family in 2021 and was proud to be called "Papa Lou." He and his wife Carol travelled the globe following his military retirement and made friends all over the world.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Sept. 28th at 11 a.m. in the MORIN FUNERAL HOME, 1131 Main St., Leicester. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery, Worcester. A calling hour will precede the services on Thursday from 10 to 11a.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Veterans, Inc., 69 Grove St., Worcester, MA 01605.
