SPENCER: Marjorie A. Devereux, 83, of Spencer, passed away peacefully, Wednesday, Dec. 24th at Quaboag Nursing & Rehabilitation in W.Brookfield.
She leaves her brother James Devereux, of Spencer with whom she lived, and many cousins including; Teresa Begley, her Special Godchild Kate Blevens and her husband Chuck, Melissa Begley and Jeffery Petruzzi, Michael and Jennifer Begley and their son Harris, (the Hastings side of the family), Michael, Richard, Paul, David, Christoper and their families.
She was predeceased by her brother John Devereux who died in 2024.
Marj worked at Hanover Insurance Co. in Worcester for many years, retiring in 2006.
Born in Worcester, she was the daughter of Francis and Viola (Hastings) Devereux and later graduated from David Prouty High School in 1961. She was a member of Mary, Queen of the Rosary Parish and served on the Martha-Mary Guild and was a longtime volunteer for the parish bazaar. She was a member of the Spencer Democratic Town Committee for many years.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 6th at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of the Rosary Church, 7 Church St., Spencer. Burial will follow in Mary, Queen of the Rosary Cemetery, Spencer. There are no calling hours. Donations in her memory can be made to Mary, Queen of the Rosary Parish, 46 Maple St., Spencer, MA 01562.The J.HENRI MORIN & SON FUNERAL HOME is assisting the family with arrangements.
