CHARLTON: Mary Elizabeth (Dickie) Bodo,58,  of Charlton, passed away at St. Vincent's Hospital in Worcester, surrounded by her family on Sunday, July 7th.

Mary Beth was the daughter of the late Bruce H. Dickie and Joan T. (O'Connor) Dickie. She leaves behind her husband of 35 years, Richard J. Bodo Jr; her son Christopher N. Bodo, her daughters Emily C. Piehl and husband Timothy and Samantha L. Logan and husband Jared; granddaughter Vivian A. Piehl; sister Catherine M. Dumas and husband Michael; brothers Bruce H. Dickie Jr and John D. Dickie and fiancé Tabitha Murphy; her mother and father-in-law Shirley and Richard Bodo; sister and brother-in-law Lisa and Thomas Sypek; niece Julia Sypek; and nephews Joshua Dumas, Matthew Dumas, John Dickie Jr., and Jackson Sypek. Mary's life was made brighter by her loving companion, Ellie.

Mary Beth was born and raised in Worcester. She graduated from South High in 1983 and worked as a bookkeeper for Komtek Forge in Worcester for many years. After leaving Komtek, Mary Beth devoted her life to raising her children and making her community a better place. She was a spirited presence in her neighborhood of Stoneybrook Gardens, forming cherished friendships and bringing the neighborhood together for many gatherings and celebrations over the years. Mary Beth was truly selfless; her life was committed to taking care of family and friends and her favorite way to spend time was with loved ones. She loved jigsaw puzzles, birdwatching, animals, going to the beach, and shopping with her sister Cathy.

Mary Beth battled multiple myeloma for 18 years, demonstrating unmatched strength and persistence as she beat the odds time and time again. She was so grateful for the wonderful care she received at Dana Farber Cancer Institute, Saint Vincent Cancer and Wellness Center, UMASS Memorial Health Cancer Center and several other healthcare institutions in MA over the years. She was a bright and inspirational presence to many, and her challenging journey through cancer treatment was well-supported by loving nurses and determined providers.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, July 11th from 5 to 7p.m. in the MORIN FUNERAL HOME, 1131 Main St., Leicester. A graveside service will be held the following day on Friday, July 12th at 11 a.m. in St. John's Cemetery, Worcester (Prince of Peace sect.).

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, 10 Brookline Place West, 6th flr.,Brookline, MA 02445-7226 in memory of Mary Bodo to support cancer research and patient care.
