Mary Ellen Styren

LEICESTER: Mary Ellen (Murphy) Styren, 87, of Main St., died Wednesday, Sept. 17 at Worcester Health Center following an illness.

She was the wife of Warren C. Styren who died in 1995. She leaves her son Scot D. Styren and his wife Gisele of Niantic, Ct., her daughter Rebecca E. Whittemore of Worcester, three grandchildren Christian Whittemore, David and Morgan Styren and three great grandchildren.

Born in Worcester, she was the daughter of William and Katherine (Hurd) Murphy and later graduated from Leicester High School. She graduated from the former Worcester Normal School and earned a Master's Degree from Worcester State College.

Mary Ellen was a school teacher for 40 years, retiring from Leicester Public Schools in 1989. Her love of God, Da, her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were what gave her purpose.

The funeral will be held on Moday, Sept. 22 at 10 a.m. in Trinity Lutheran Church, 75 Lancaster St. Worcester. Burial will follow in West Ridge Cemetery, Charlton. Calling hours are Sunday, Sept. 21 from 3:00-5:00 PM in the MORIN FUNERAL HOME, 1131 Main Street, Leicester.
