Michael Waitkus

LEICESTER: Michael J. Waitkus, 72, of Pleasant Street died Monday, Dec. 31 in his home after an illness.

His wife of 50 years Eleanor A. (Ferguson) Waitkus died Jan. 7, 2012. He leaves three daughters Maryellen Booth and her husband Harold with whom he lived, Michelle Gutierrez and Kerry Nderitu both of Worcester, three sisters Rosemary Erti and her husband James of Worcester, Eileen Waitkus of Auburn and Margaret Waitkus of Worcester, 12 grandchildren including Cassandra & Kaylina Olivencia of Leicester and 3 great-grandchildren. He was pre-deceased by a daughter Christine Lowe who died Nov. 9, 2012.

Mr. Waitkus was born in Worcester, son of Joseph and Rita (Clifford) Waitkus. He worked at Clark & Mott Construction Co. before retiring. He enjoyed camping at Old Orchard Beach Campground.

A Memorial Mass will be held Saturday, Jan. 5 at 11:00 AM in St. Pius X Church, 1153 Main Street, Leicester. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. MORIN-MORRISON FUNERAL HOME, 1131 Main Street, Leicester is directing arrangements.
