Muriel R. Muir

Muriel R. (Rowden) Muir 96 of 225 Paxton Rd., died Tuesday, July 27 at Auburn Life Care Center. She was the wife of Gilbert Muir who died in 1971. She leaves two sons Robert H. husband of Diane Muir of Spencer with whom she lived, and Thomas A. husband of Louise Muir of N.Chelmsford, a sister Elinor Rowden of Derby, Vt., 5 grand and 2 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Mrs. Muir taught school in Wells River, Vt. and Shelburne Falls, Ma.,she later worked as catalogue manager at Sears, Roebuck Co. in Hyannis, Ma. for 20 years, retiring in 1970.Born in Bath, N.H., she was the daughter of Thomas A. and Elizabeth (Wood) Rowden and lived in So. Yarmouth from 1948 to 1994 before moving to Spencer and Worcester.Funeral services will be held Friday, July 30 at 11a.m. in the United Methodist Church, 322 Old Main St., So.Yarmouth, Ma. Burial will follow in Woodside Cemetery, Yarmouthport. There are no calling hours.
