A Tribute to Nathan: The Man, The Myth, The Argument

Nathaniel Kristian O'Coin , aged 47, has finally moved on to a place where everyone presumably agrees with him. He passed away on April 13th, 2026, leaving his family with a lot of love and, for the first time in decades, the last word. If you met Nathan, you heard him. And if you heard him, he was likely explaining why your choice of anything was fundamentally flawed. He was a man of immense volume and even more immense certainty. To Nathan, "stubborn" wasn't a personality flaw; it was a lifestyle. He never met a debate he couldn't win, or at the very least, outlast. However, his "my way or the highway" attitude was just a cover for a man who would have moved mountains for his family. He was the guy who would grumble the entire time he was helping you move a couch in the rain, but he’d be the first one there with the truck. He hid his soft heart behind a wall of "I told you so's," but if you were in trouble, there was no one more fiercely protective or dependable. He was the loud, immovable anchor of our family. We suspect he’s currently at the Pearly Gates, giving St. Peter some unsolicited advice on how to improve the gate’s hinges and explaining why the clouds are arranged incorrectly. He leaves behind a family that is much quieter, a little more lost, and deeply grateful for every discussion we had the privilege of losing to him. Nathan is survived by his parents, William O’Coin and his wife Bette (Arlin) O’Coin of Leicester, his younger brother Joshua and his wife Kristina Murren, and her daughter, Sophia, of Groton, MA, his sister Bethany Cournoyer and her husband Paul of Webster Lake and nephew Lincoln, also of Webster Lake. Nathan attended St. John’s High School where he led the Model UN program, the University of MA, Amherst He worked for the past 12 years as a Senior Technical Recruiter for IIVVII,INC ,and GRN, Chicago.

At the family's request, funeral services will be private. Memorial donations may be made to: www.elliefund.org.
