SPENCER: Pauline (Pion) Zalauskas,92, formerly of Howe Village, died peacefully Sunday, March 31st. in Quaboag Rehabilitation & Skilled Care Center, West Brookfield.She was the wife of Donald P. Zalauskas who died in 1993. She leaves her daughters; Mary A. Gallant and her husband Michael of Manchester, NH, Patricia Graves and her husband Joseph of Southbridge, Paula Stafinski and her husband Robert of Spencer and Christine Rogan and her husband Kevin of Spencer, her brother; Paul Pion of Maine, her daughter in laws; Linda, Dorinda and Donna Zalauskas,17 grandchildren and many great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her sons; Donald P. Zalauskas, Jr. in 2014, Anthony P. in 2018, Kenneth J. in 2023 and Matthew B. in 2023, her grandson; Aaron Graves in 2023, and 10 of her siblings.
She was born in E.Brookfield, the daughter of Frank and Mary (Mitchell) Pion. She was a member of Mary, Queen of the Rosary Parish. Pauline was the matriarch of the Zalauskas family and was a consistent presence at her Childrens, Grandchildrens and even her Great Grandchildrens events. She loved family parties, playing cards with Auntie Laura and bidding a "Small Two" in pitch. She enjoyed going to the Casino and scratch tickets. During her time at Quaboag she enjoyed participating in activities.
The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to a special friend and nurse Naomi at Quaboag for their mother's care.
Pauline's funeral service will be held on Friday, April 5th at 11 a.m. in the J.HENRI MORIN & SON FUNERAL HOME, 23 Maple Terr., Spencer. Burial will follow in Mary, Queen of the Rosary Cemetery, Spencer. A calling hour will precede the service from 10 to 11 a.m. on Friday. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Quaboag on the Common Patient Activity Account, 47 East Main St., West Brookfield, MA 01585.
