SPENCER: Philip R. MacDonald,80, of Spencer died Tuesday, Nov. 25th in UMASS Medical Center, Worcester after a long illness.  He leaves his wife of 54 years, Patricia A. (Gagen) MacDonald, his son; Ryan MacDonald and his partner, Christy Bailey of Albion, Iowa and his daughter; Allison MacDonald of Brookfield, a brother; Bruce MacDonald of Lunenburg, 5 grandchildren; Haley MacDonald and her partner Alex, Ethan MacDonald and his wife Abbey , Larissa Reynolds and her husband Austin, Camden MacDonald and Oakley Smith, 3 great grandchildren; River, Cove and Valley Reynolds, several nieces and nephews.  He is predeceased by a sister; Moira MacDonald, and 2 brothers; Peter and Paul MacDonald.

Phil worked in the abrasive dept. at Norton Co., in Worcester prior to his retirement in 2004. He was born in Medford and grew up in Dunstable, the son of Roderick and Dorothy (O'Neil) MacDonald and graduated from Lowell High School in 1963. He then went on to serve his country with the US Navy during the Vietnam War.  He was a member of Mary, Queen of the Rosary Parish in Spencer, and the Gaudette-Kirk Post 138, American Legion. He once coached for the Spencer Youth Soccer League, was an avid snowmobiler, enjoyed fishing and cooking.

A Memorial Service will be held a later date and time to be announced in the MA Veterans Cemetery in Winchendon with Military Honors. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Veterans Inc., 69 Gove St., Worcester, MA 01605. The J.HENRI MORIN & SON FUNERAL HOME, 23 Maple Terr., Spencer is assisting the family with arrangements.
