SPENCER: Phyllis G. (McGrath) Sasseville, 95, of Spencer, passed Friday, Sept. 5th at Jewish Healthcare Center, Worcester after a brief illness. She was the wife of Wilfred G. Sasseville, Jr. who died in 2016. She leaves her daughter; Deanne M. Benicaso of Spencer, her granddaughters; Amanda Wiley and her husband Patrick of Grafton and Kimberly Moreau and her partner Shaun DeFazio of Worcester. She is predeceased by her daughter; Lauren Sasseville in 1961, her sister; Corinne Boisjolie and son in law; Bryan Benicaso in 2023.
Phyllis was an interior decorator and worked at Henry's Paint & Wallpaper and also at California Paint & Wallpaper in Worcester for many years. She was an accomplished artist and a member of the Massasoit Art Guild. She also worked for the 4-H Extension Service in Spencer planning summer programs for children in the community.
She was born in Milford, the daughter of Vincent and Viola (Reed) McGrath and later graduated from David Prouty High School in Spencer and attended the Worcester Art Museum School.
Her funeral will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 10th from the J.HENRI MORIN & SON FUNERAL HOME, 23 Maple Terr., Spencer with a funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of the Rosary Church, 7 Church St., Spencer. Burial will follow in Mary, Queen of the Rosary Cemetery, Spencer. Calling hours are Tuesday, Sept. 9th from 5 to 7 p.m. Memorial donations can be made to the Massasoit Art Guild, P.O.
