NO.BROOKFIELD: Raymond J. Delisle, 70, of No.Brookfield, died Monday, Dec. 4th. at his home from a rare esophageal cancer, diagnosed 3 1/2 months ago.
He was the husband of Mary Lou (Doane) Delisle who died in 2015. He leaves his father; Raymond L. Delisle of Brookfield, his brother; John A. Delisle of Sturbridge and his children; Eric, John, Amanda and Grace, his longtime caretaker and best friend; Darlene Emco Rollins who was at his side when he passed, and her daughter; Natasha who was the daughter of his heart and her son Rylan the "grandson" of Ray who knew him as "Umpa". Ray cherished the time with him, teaching him how to use tools,riding the Kabota and lawn mower, and teaching him about nature. Darlene's sister Carol Emco came from her home in Ecuador to help care for Ray during his illness.
Ray was a first responder and worked in the heat treat plant at Wyman Gordon Co. in Grafton/Worcester for many years, prior to his retirement in 2015.
He was born in Wichita Falls,TX, the son of the late Dorothy T. (Beaudreau) Delisle. He graduated from David Prouty High School in 1971. He was past President of the Board of Directors of CHIP IN Food Pantry of Charlton, Board member of the REAS Foundation (Residential Energy Assistance for Seniors). He delivered food boxes to the homebound disabled, elderly and hospice patients. Ray loved his cats "Bob-a-Lou and Loki" and misses his dog "Apollo".
Ray loved driving his Shelby Mustang and Harley along the coast and the mountains which was one of his greatest pleasures. He had a lot of friends and will be missed and loved by all. He will be remembered for his longtime community services and his kindness to all he met.
Ray's funeral will be held on Friday, Dec. 8th from the J.HENRI MORIN & SON FUNERAL HOME, 23 Maple Terr., Spencer with a funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of the Rosary Church, 7 Church St., Spencer. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery, No.Brookfield. Calling hours are Thursday, Dec. 7th from 5 to 7 p.m. in the funeral home.
