WORCESTER/SPENCER:  Raymond Kallio,99, of Worcester formerly of Spencer, died Saturday, March 28 at Notre Dame du Lac Assisted Living in Worcester.  He leaves his daughter; Nancy Nowak and her husband Bernard of Spencer, three granddaughters, Lisa Rockwood and her husband James of Cache, OK, Marie Pasquale and her husband, Joseph of Raleigh, NC, Cheryl Lavoie and her husband, John of West Newton, MA, seven great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. His wife of sixty-nine years, Pauline (Simoneau) Kallio died in 2014. His sister, Ruth Morin of Las Vegas, NV died in 2015. He also leaves extended family and many friends, as well as the dedicated staff at Notre Dame du Lac, Notre Dame Hospice, and Amada Senior Care.

He was born in Worcester MA, the son of the late Hugh Kallio and Anna (Costley) Kallio. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. He worked in the heat treat and lab testing departments of Wyman-Gordon Company, retiring in 1988.

He was a member of Mary, Queen of the Rosary Parish in Spencer, and formerly served on the parish council. A Eucharistic minister for many years, he also served in the elder outreach ministry. He was a member of Finnish Heritage Society, Sovittaja in Rutland, MA.

Ray’s funeral will be held on Tuesday, April 7th from the J.HENRI MORIN & SON FUNERAL HOME, 23 Maple Terr., Spencer with a funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of the Rosary Church, 7 Church St., Spencer. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Mary, Queen of the Rosary Cemetery, Spencer. A calling hour will precede the Mass from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. in the funeral home.
