Raymond Nye Young, Sr.

SPENCER: Raymond Nye Young, Sr., 77, of Spencer, died Saturday, April 18th at UMass Medical Center, Lake Ave. in Worcester, following a long illness.

He leaves his wife of 55 years, Cassandra A. "Sandy" (Dreyer) Young, his sons; Raymond N. Young, Jr. of Auburn and Todd W. Young and his wife Jessica of Southbridge, his daughters; Louise M. Young and her partner, Todd Stockenberg of Spencer, and Susann P. Young of Spencer, his brother; Rainell Young and his wife Corrine of Worcester and his sister; Margaret Alvarado of Worcester, a special niece; Katlin Manoli of Worcester, 12 grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by brothers; Alfred Roy Germain and Herbie Young, and sisters; Carol Anne Manoli, Ella "Patsy" Germain and Louise Sandra Young.Ray was born in Worcester, the son of Herbert A. and Margaret M. (Trudell) Young. He was a chef at the former Webster House in Worcester for 25 years and later owned and operated Mid-Town Diner in Worcester for 25 years prior to his retirement in 2013. He received a culinary certificate from Johnson & Wales College in R.I. He enjoyed fresh water fishing, bird watching and especially spending time with his family.Calling hours will be held on Thursday, April 23 from 4 to 6 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 6 p.m. in the J.HENRI MORIN & SON FUNERAL HOME, 23 Maple Terr., Spencer.
