Richard A. Avedian

SPENCER: Richard A. Avedian,82, of Spencer, died Monday, Aug. 19th at Jewish Healthcare Center, Worcester. He leaves his wife of 63 years, Elizabeth A. (Snook) Avedian, his sons; Michael J. Avedian of Worcester and Andrew R. Avedian, Sr. and his wife Victoria of No.Brookfield, his daughter; Deborah A. Avedian and her husband Richard Maffei of Melbourne Beach, FL., brothers; David Avedian and his wife Maryann of Milford, and William Avedian of Worcester, his sisters; Stephanie Rice and her husband Bernie of Auburn, Andrea Sullivan of Framingham, Helene Lynch and her husband James of Shrewsbury and Frances Howard and her husband Stephen of Worcester, his grandchildren; Kristin, Kayla, A.J., Jenna, Lynn, Melissa, Anthony and Daniel, great grandchildren; Brennan, Owen, Jace, Brady, Isabella and Lillian and a great great granddaughter; Mia, many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by a brother, Vaughn Avedian. Dick was born in Worcester, the son of Stephen and Esther (Defino) Avedian and later graduated from Worcester Boys Trade School.

He was a carpenter for the Local 107 (Now 336) Carpenters Union for over 50 years, retiring in 1996. Along with his wife Elizabeth (Bunty), he enjoyed trips to Florida for 17 years and vacations to Aruba. He was an avid golfer, enjoyed the casino and going to the beach. He was a member of St. John's Church.

Dick's funeral will be held on Thursday, Aug. 22nd with a funeral Mass at 11 a.m. in St. John's Church, 40 Temple St., Worcester. Friends & family are asked to go directly to the church. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery, Worcester. Calling hours at the J.HENRI MORIN & SON FUNERAL HOME, 23 Maple St., Spencer are Wednesday from 4 to 7p.m. in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to St. John's Food Pantry, 44 Temple St., Worcester, MA 01604. The family would like to thank the staff at the Jewish Healthcare Center for their love, support, and excellent care Richard received over the past few years.
