WEST BROOKFIELD: Richard Alan Booth, 81, of West Brookfield, died on Friday, July 24, at The Lutheran Home in Worcester.
Born in Spencer, he was the son of the late Albert Leon and Elsie (Green) Booth and later graduated from Charlton High School.
He served honorably in the United States Navy retiring after 20 years, including service on seven different ships. He retired from Ryder Truck in Auburn in 2010 after working in yard and fuel service.
He was a lifetime member of Gaudette-Kirk American Legion Post 138 in Spencer, where he served as Post Commander, and a lifetime member of the VFW. Alan enjoyed playing in the Legion's pitch league and was an avid golfer.
Alan is survived by his wife of 55 years, Alice M. (Thibault) Booth; his son, Christopher M. Booth and his wife, Susan of Spencer; his daughter, Aimee L. Randall of Spencer; his granddaughters, Marissa Randall of Spencer and Kayla Toth of Washington, D.C. and his great-grandsons, William and Augustus Toth. He was predeceased by his brother, Albert Booth; his sister-in-law, Bernadette Booth; and his sister, Marcia Hill.
A Memorial Service for Alan will be held on Thursday, July 30th at 11 am. in the J. HENRI MORIN & SON FUNERAL HOME, 23 Maple Terrace, Spencer. Calling hours will precede the service from 9:30 to 11 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Spencer.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Gaudette-Kirk American Legion Post 138 Scholarship Fund, 175 Main St., Spencer, MA 01562.
