Richard E. Parker, 90, of Brooks Pond Cross Road died Tuesday, Oct. 11 in the Meadows of Leicester after an illness.
His wife of 65 years Florence B. (Brown) Parker died in February. He leaves four sons Donald A. Parker of Lompoc, CA, Thomas R. Parker of Falmouth, Raymond W. Parker of Tampa, FL and William R. Parker of North Brookfield, a daughter Patricia B. Robertson of Belfast, Maine, a brother Kenneth Parker of North Brookfield, two sisters Lucille Warner of Spencer and Joyce Stone of North Brookfield, 11 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by three brothers Leon, Ernest & Norman Parker and a sister Doris Parker.
Mr. Parker was born in Spencer, son of Walter and Alice (Bemis) Parker. He was a purchaser at Warren Pumps for 32 years retiring in 1984. After retiring, he drove truck for Worcester City Delivery for 12 years and was a caretaker at Pine Grove Cemetery for 10 years. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Spencer. He was a life member and past commander at Post 138 American Legion in Spencer, life member of the Spencer Fish and Game and a former member of the Greendale Retired Men's Club. He enjoyed golfing and mowing his large lawn.
The funeral will be held Saturday, Oct. 15 at 10:00 AM in J. HENRI MORIN & SON FUNERAL HOME, 23 Maple Terr., Spencer. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Calling hours are Friday from 5:00-7:00 PM. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to First United Methodist Church, 161 Main Street, Spencer, MA or to American Legion Post 138, 175 Main Street, Spencer, MA 01562.
