Rita T. Berryman

AUBURN; Rita Theresa Berryman, aged 89, died Monday, April 8 after a sudden illness. She was born in Worcester, Massachusetts, daughter of the late Ernest and Pearl Vincent. She devoted her life to her husband, Henry, and to raising her two children, Glen and Mark, having lived in Auburn, Massachusetts for close to 60 years. Rita loved vacationing in Hampton Beach, playing Pitch, long drives with Henry, WWE wrestling, eating lobster, followed by maple walnut ice cream, and going out to eat at many area restaurants.
She leaves behind her loving husband of 67 years, Henry, her two children, Glen, and his wife Jessica of Old Orchard Beach Maine, and Mark of Auburn Massachusetts, her beloved granddaughter, Jackie, who she adored, Jackie's fiancé Ryan Bottis of Holden, Massachusetts, her sister, Jeanette Merulla of Oxford, Massachusetts, her sisters-in-law, Peggy Berryman, and Beverly Haynes, her brother-in-law, Buddy Berryman, many nieces, nephews and long-time friends. She was predeceased by her siblings (May, Lawrence, Bernard, Lloyd, Lorraine, Claire).
Rita, or Grandma, as many called her, was just 4'10" and a mere 80 pounds but her personality and character were larger than life. Her spunk and wit made all who had the fortune of meeting her smile. Having had two boys, Rita was thrilled and over joyed when Jackie, otherwise known as their sweetheart, was born. She finally had the opportunity to have a little girl, and she wasted no time dressing her in pink and spoiling her to no end. Rita and Henry spent their years following retirement taking Jackie along for their long rides to see all the nature they enjoyed and showering her with love and kisses. Rita was a staple at Sunday football games at Steve and Sue's house, dancing to the half-time music and keeping the party going. Her laugh, quick wit, sense of humor, and unconditional love will be missed.
Services to celebrate Rita's beautiful life will be held on Saturday, April 13th. at 11a.m. in the  MORIN FUNERAL HOME, 1131 Main Street, Leicester followed by burial in Pine Grove Cemetery, Leicester. A calling hour will precede the services from 10 to 11 a.m. Flowers may be sent or contributions made to a charity of choice.
