Sophie Martin

SPENCER: Sophie R. (Ivashek) Martin,87, of Wire Village Rd., died Monday, March 16 in St. Vincent's Hospital in Worcester, surrounded by her family.
She was the wife of Frederick R. Martin, who died in 1981. She leaves her son Fred C. Martin of Rutland, and her daughter Elaine L. Miller and her husband Roger of Spencer, six grandchildren Craig Miller and his wife Jacquiline of Winchester, Thomas Miller and his wife Heather of Holden, Keith Miller and his wife Stacy of Silver Springs, Md., Kimberly Army of Southboro, Philip Martin and his wife Amy of Paxton and Suzanne Adamiak and her husband Neal of Rutland, and seven great grandchildren.
Born in Sterling, she was the daughter of Charles and Helena (Zaremba) Ivashek and lived in E.Brookfield and then moved to Spencer living here for sixty years.
She worked 20 years at The Brookfield Orchards, 20 years at the IGA Supermarket both in No.Brookfield and 20 years at Spencer McDonald's, retiring only 2 years ago. She recently enjoyed a trip to Hawaii with her family.
She was a very loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She enjoyed being around her family and sharing many stories with everyone. She loved gardening and working in her yard.
She will be terribly missed by everyone.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 20 at 10 a.m. in the MORIN-MORRISON FUNERAL HOME, 1131 Main St., Leicester. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Spencer. Calling hours are Thursday from 6 to 8p.m.
