Leicester, MA

LEICESTER: Steven J. "Woody" Woodman, Sr.,74, of Leicester, passed away on Sunday, May 24th at his home, after an almost 2-year battle with Pancreatic cancer. Steve was born on March 1, 1952, in Milford, MA. to Wilbur and Dolores (Mello) Woodman. Steve was the beloved husband of 53 years of Diane L. (Purdy) Woodman. He was a devoted father to his children; Steven J. Woodman, Jr. and his wife Darlene of Rangeley, ME., and Michael R. Woodman and his wife Sandra of Rutland; Michelle L. Fleck and her husband Robert Fleck, III of Webster. He leaves a stepsister; Lisa Lanagan and her husband Joseph of Beverly, MA. He was a proud grandfather to; Tristram Woodman, Kyle and Allyson Woodman, Robert Fleck, IV and Samantha Fleck, as well as many nieces and nephews, all of whom brought him tremendous pride and joy. He is predeceased by sisters; Victoria Harms and Deborah Woodman and his brother; Ejay Cronin. Steve was a man with a strong work ethic. He was a longtime metal fabricator and press brake operator. For the last 11 years he worked at Alloy Fabricators of New England in Randolph, with his last day being April 17th. Steve became a member of the First Congregational Church of Worcester in February 2026, where his sister-in-law, Gina is pastor. It was a place where he felt at home and welcomed.

Steve was known for his strong personality, and larger-than-life presence. He could be loud and stubborn at times, but those who knew him best understood that behind that tough exterior was a man who would do absolutely anything for the people he loved. He enjoyed his orchids, feeding and watching the birds, and cursing the squirrels. He loved sitting on the front porch and interacting with the neighbors. He was a foodie; collecting recipes, patronizing restaurants locally and in Gloucester. His loyalty to his family was unmatched, and he spent his life making sure those around him were cared for, fed, and loved. Steve's memory will live on in the stories shared by family and friends, in the generosity he shared, and in the love he gave so freely to those closest to him. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
