SPENCER: Therese M. (Young) Beckwith, 92, of Spencer, passed away, Tuesday, April 14th at her home. She leaves her children: John P. Bowen of Worcester, Kathleen A. Bowen of Spencer, Mary-Elizabeth Marsh and her husband Robert of W. Boylston, Christopher P. Bowen and his wife Julie of Spencer, and Kevin Y. Beckwith and his wife Gillian of Rowley, MA., 8 grandchildren: Patrick, Kaitlyn, Corey and Brandon Marsh, Ryan, Meghan and Daniel Bowen and Abigail Beckwith. She is predeceased by her first husband; Walter E. Bowen in 1967, her second husband; Bradley A. Beckwith in 2003 and her brother; Walter J. Young. She was born in Brooklyn, NY., the daughter of Walter L. and Nora T. (Moloney) Young and later graduated from St. Joseph's Women's College in Brooklyn and earned a Master's Degree from Worcester State College. Therese taught school at the No. Brookfield Elementary School for 34 years, retiring in 2002. She was a member of Mary, Queen of the Rosary Parish and was once a translator at Old Sturbridge Village. She was a former trustee of the Richard Sugden Library. She enjoyed cooking and baking, was an avid reader, enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and traveling abroad.

Her funeral will be held on Saturday, April 18th from the J. HENRI MORIN & SON FUNERAL HOME, 23 Maple Terr., Spencer with a funeral Mass at 11 a.m. in Mary, Queen of the Rosary Church, 7 Church St., Spencer. Burial will follow in Mary, Queen of the Rosary Cemetery, Spencer. Visitation is Saturday from 9 to 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home prior to the church service. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Mary, Queen of the Rosary Food Pantry, 46 Maple St., Spencer, MA 01562.
