William J. Backunas

William J. Backunas,99, of Miami Lakes,FL and formerly of Leicester died Monday, March 3 from injuries suffered in a car accident on Feb. 28.
He is pre-deceased by his wife Catherine (Sluga) Backunas. He leaves a daughter Dorothy McGauran of Miami Lakes, two grandchildren Keith Plona and Joanne McGauran, three great-grandchildren and a great-great-granddaughter.
Mr. Backunas was born in Worcester, MA son of Michael and Margaret Backunas. He worked for 49 years at the former Vellumoid Co. retiring in 1974. He served in the United States Navy during WW II. The funeral will be held Saturday, March 15 from MORIN-MORRISON FUNERAL HOME, 1131 Main Street, Leicester with at Mass at 12:30 PM in St. Pius X Church, 1154 Main Street, Leicester. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Leicester. Calling hours are from 11:00 AM- 12:15 PM Saturday.
