William "Bill" Hickman

EAST BROOKFIELD: William "Bill" Hickman, 74, of East Brookfield, died Monday, Aug. 21st at his home with loved ones by his side, following a long battle with Parkinson's Disease. He leaves his devoted wife of 51 years, Cheryl J. (McSherry) Hickman, his son; Christopher J. Hickman and his wife Kristen of N. Brookfield and two grandchildren; Owen W. and Blake A. Hickman, along with several nieces & nephews. He is predeceased by his son; William "Dave" Hickman, Jr. in 2021.
He was born in Worcester, the son of Mansur and Rita (Lareau) Hickman and later graduated from David Prouty High School in Spencer Class of 1966.Bill was a construction supervisor for R.W. Granger & Sons Co., in Shrewsbury for 50 years, retiring in 2021. He loved snowmobiling in his earlier years in Ludlow, VT, where he and his family moved for five years and continued vacationing on the weekends.  He enjoyed cutting trees and splitting wood with friends and was always excited pouring hundreds of yards of concrete on the job, but most important to him was spending time with his grandsons in the yard.
The family would like to thank Overlook Hospice, nurses and staff for their compassionate care of Bill during his final days at home.
At his request, no funeral services are planned at this time. The J.HENRI MORIN & SON FUNERAL HOME, 23 Maple Terr., Spencer is directing the arrangements for the family.
