William G. Knight

LEICESTER: William G. Knight, 81, of the Cherry Valley section of Leicester, died Thursday, Oct. 10th in
his home surrounded by his loving family following a long illness.
He was born to George and Mary (McGrail) Knight and lived in the Quinsigamond Village
section of Worcester for the first 33 years of his life. He later moved his wife and family to
Cherry Valley section of Leicester. He leaves his wife of 59 years, Mary Pat (Rice) Knight,
daughters Kathleen M. Jost and her husband Henry of Leicester and Kimberly A. Corey of
North Oxford; a son, William M. Knight of Marion; his sister, Dr. Gayle Power and her
husband Dennis of Oxford, 8 grandchildren to whom he was affectionately known as
"Puppa": Connor, Patrick, Brittany, Gracyn, Harrison, Kaylie, Ryan and Emma, and a great-granddaughter, Mia Rose; and several nieces and nephews. Bill was a graduate of the former Commerce High in Worcester and after, served his
country with the US Army during the Vietnam War era. He was a longtime telephone
lineman for Verizon in Worcester before retiring in 2001. Bill and Mary Pat spent the past 16
years enjoying the best of being snowbirds at their second residence in Stuart, Florida. Bill
could be found on the golf course with friends or enjoying a good book on the beach with
Mary Pat. He will be best remembered by his "gang" for his dry sense of humor and love of a
good joke.
Bill's funeral will be held on Thursday, Oct. 17th from the MORIN FUNERAL HOME, 1131
Main St., Leicester with a funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Pius X Church, 1153 Main St.,
Leicester. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Leicester. Calling
hours are Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions
may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Pl., Memphis,
TN 38105.
